The death of a librarian - Digital collage (IL200-2)

This illustration was created using the digital raster manipulation/digital collage technique, as part of a larger brief focused on engaging and testing our digital illustrative abilities.

It depicts my interpretation of the Ivorian proverb/aphorism "The death of an elderly man is like a burning library.", which I decided to take literally, with the idea that the people standing in the foreground are mourning not only the burning library itself (and the centuries of knowledge it held), but the (old man) librarian inside.

It is created using the following images (sourced online and through AI generation)
REFLECTION

I am very satisfied with the dark, eerie mood of this digital collage, and I learnt a lot about the technique and how to use photoshop through this illustrative brief. I am also pleased that the final result is so different from any/all of the images it is composed of.
